The device, which can mount to the top of your television, emits a continuous stream of infra-red light which maps the distance between the device and any object within its range. When motion occurs, like creating a gesture with your hands, the device senses the change in depth and extrapolates a motion based gesture.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Using a Microsoft Kinect scanner connected to my computer by way of the &lt;em&gt;Processing&lt;/em&gt; creative coding environment and the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.shiffman.net/p5/kinect/&quot;&gt;OpenKinect&lt;/a&gt; library, I was able to screen capture a point cloud representation of 3D space. Posing in the desired position roughly matching the sketch, and making multiple captures with slightly different hand positions, builds a collection of images which can be combined in the 2D illustration space to convey motion.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
